FinKasi Terms of Use

1. Acceptance of these terms

These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the FinKasi website (finkasi.com) and the FinKasi WhatsApp service (together, the "Service"), provided by FinKasi Technologies (Pty) Ltd, registration number 2026/727057/07 ("FinKasi", "we", "us"). By using the Service — including sending a message or receipt to our WhatsApp number, or using this website — you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

2. What FinKasi is

FinKasi is a household and personal expense-tracking service delivered primarily through WhatsApp. You forward till slips, invoices, and payment confirmations to our WhatsApp number; we extract, categorise, and log that information so you can see and review your (or your household's) spending over time. This website describes the Service and lets you get in touch with us.

FinKasi is a budgeting and tracking tool. It does not provide financial, investment, tax, or legal advice, and nothing on this website or delivered through our WhatsApp service should be treated as such. Any reference to investing or growing savings (for example, illustrations of what savings could become if invested) is for illustration only, is not a recommendation, and any actual investment activity takes place through a separately licensed third party, not FinKasi.

3. Eligibility and accounts

You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to enter into these Terms to use FinKasi. When you (or a household member) register or link a WhatsApp number to FinKasi, you're responsible for the accuracy of the information provided and for keeping your linked number and household membership up to date. Where a household account has more than one linked member, each member's receipts and spend become part of one shared household ledger visible to that household — make sure everyone you add is aware of and agrees to that before you link them.

4. Acceptable use

You agree to use the Service only for its intended purpose — tracking genuine receipts, invoices, and payment confirmations for your own or your household's actual spending. You agree not to:

  • Submit fake, altered, or fraudulent receipts or documents;
  • Use the Service to process receipts or data belonging to someone who has not agreed to be part of your household;
  • Attempt to interfere with, disrupt, or gain unauthorised access to the Service, our systems, or other users' data;
  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable law, including South African law.

We may suspend or terminate access for any account used in violation of these Terms.

5. Fees

FinKasi's core receipt-logging and summary features are currently offered free of charge while the Service is in testing. We may introduce a paid tier ("FinKasi Plus") in the future, offering additional features for a fee. We will communicate any pricing clearly before it applies to you, and you will not be charged without being told in advance.

6. Your right to stop using FinKasi, at any time

You may stop using FinKasi, unlink your number, or ask us to delete your account and personal information at any time, free of charge, by contacting us using the details below or by replying "STOP" to any WhatsApp message from us. This does not affect any fees already properly due for a period before you unsubscribed, where applicable to a paid tier. See our Privacy Policy for more on how we handle your data when you stop using the Service.

7. Intellectual property

The FinKasi name, logo, website content, and underlying technology are owned by FinKasi Technologies (Pty) Ltd or its licensors. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works from any part of the Service without our prior written permission. You retain ownership of the receipts and data you submit; by submitting them you grant us a licence to process that data solely to provide and improve the Service, as described in our Privacy Policy.

8. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available." While we work to accurately extract and categorise the information on receipts you send us, automated extraction is not infallible, and we do not guarantee that every figure will be error-free — please review your logged spending and let us know if something looks wrong. We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or available at all times.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by South African law, FinKasi Technologies (Pty) Ltd will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential loss arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Service, including loss of data or financial loss arising from a budgeting or categorisation error. Nothing in these Terms limits any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited under South African law, including the Consumer Protection Act, 2008, where it applies.

10. Changes to the Service and these Terms

We may update these Terms, and change, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service, from time to time. Where a change is material, we will take reasonable steps to let you know. Continuing to use the Service after a change takes effect means you accept the updated Terms.

11. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of the Service will be subject to the jurisdiction of the South African courts, without prejudice to any right you have to refer a complaint to a relevant regulator.
